Visiting Michigan Cider Mills
To get you in the fall mood, the Rochester Hills Public Library is hosting a cider tasting during the lecture, Visiting Michigan Cider Mills on October 10.
Starting at 7:00 p.m., writer and local cider enthusiast Michael Dwyer will speak on the variety of cider mills throughout the state. Concluding the event will be a cider tasting.
“Southeast Michigan is fortunate to have several cider mills in our community, each one offering the visitor a difference experience,” says Dwyer, “these independently owned, local businesses celebrate the best the fall harvest provides.”
Michigan’s river system and climate make it ideal for cider mills and the beautiful landscape has only helped their popularity.
The presentation will highlight the Rochester Area cider mills, including Yates, Goodison, Paint Creek, Rochester, and Middleton.
“The fresh-pressed cider and warm donuts keep people coming back to our cider mills every September and October, keeping the apple industry a thriving part of Michigan’s economy,” says Community Relations Specialist Amanda Harrison Keighley.
Registration is available online for this event at calendar.rhpl.org. Sign up in advance as space will be limited.
